0.2mm Transparent, Compostable PLA Rigid Sheet — Suitable for Heat-Sealing to Paperboard (Window Film)
Eco-friendly, Biodegradable PLA (Polylactic Acid) Sheets and Rolls.
0.2mm Transparent PLA Rigid Sheet & 35μm Corona-Treated PLA Film: A Heat-Sealing Solution for Windowed, Compostable Cartons
Comprising a 0.2mm transparent PLA rigid sheet and a 35μm externally corona-treated PLA film, these materials are both 100% bio-based, compostable, and biodegradable Polylactic Acid (PLA)—eco-friendly materials specifically designed for heat-sealing windows in paper cartons and for paper-plastic composite packaging. They serve as a perfect substitute for traditional petroleum-based PET/PP films, balancing excellent product visibility and sealing integrity with environmental compliance.
I. Core Materials and Performance Characteristics
0.2mm Transparent PLA Rigid Sheet (Sheet / Roll Form)
Manufactured via extrusion molding using corn or cassava starch as raw materials, this rigid sheet features a light transmittance of ≥90% and low haze, allowing for a crystal-clear display of the products inside the carton. It possesses moderate hardness and excellent stiffness, making it ideally suited for the window cutting and heat-sealing processes involved in carton manufacturing. With a temperature resistance range of -20°C to 55°C (extendable up to 100°C through modification), it meets all safety standards for food contact applications. Under industrial composting conditions, it fully degrades into CO₂ and water within 6 to 12 months, complying with compostability standards and leaving behind zero plastic residue. It features a heat-sealing temperature range of 100–120°C, forming a strong bond with paper-based substrates to ensure high seal strength and resistance to cracking.
35μm Externally Corona-Treated PLA Film (Roll Form)
Produced using a biaxially oriented (BOPLA) process, this film features uniform thickness and a smooth surface finish. The external corona treatment significantly enhances its surface tension, resulting in superior adhesion for heat-sealing to cartons/paper, printing, and lamination—thereby effectively resolving the delamination issues often associated with pure PLA films. Boasting high transparency and high gloss, it serves as an excellent window film that clearly showcases the packaged product. Its flexibility is superior to that of the rigid sheet, making it highly compatible with high-speed automated packaging lines; furthermore, it offers a wide heat-sealing window and strong adaptability across various applications. Like the rigid sheet, it is entirely bio-based and compostable, sharing the same degradation cycle to ensure that the entire paper-plastic composite packaging unit meets comprehensive biodegradability requirements. II. Applications and Advantages
These two materials are precisely tailored to meet the specific requirements of windowed paper boxes, paper-plastic heat sealing, and packaging for food, gifts, and daily chemical products. The 0.2mm rigid sheet is ideal for larger window openings and for gift or meal boxes requiring structural support, ensuring the window remains flat and free from deformation. Conversely, the 35μm corona-treated film is best suited for smaller window openings and high-speed bag-making or lamination processes, thereby boosting production efficiency.
Key Advantages: ① Eco-compliant: Fully compostable throughout its entire lifecycle, helping enterprises reduce plastic waste and carbon emissions while complying with "plastic restriction orders." ② High Visual Appeal: Features exceptional transparency and zero haze, significantly enhancing product shelf appeal. ③ Processing Compatibility: Compatible with standard heat-sealing, cutting, and printing equipment, requiring no major modifications to existing production lines. ④ Safe and Non-toxic: Food-grade certified and suitable for direct contact with food, cosmetics, and similar products.
III. Selection Guidelines and Application Scenarios
For large window areas requiring structural rigidity: Select the 0.2mm PLA rigid sheet (available in both sheet and roll formats); typically processed via cutting followed by heat sealing.
For high-speed packaging requiring flexible lamination: Select the 35μm corona-treated PLA film (supplied in rolls); compatible with automated heat-sealing machinery.
