What are the differences between blister-formed and injection-molded lunch boxes?

What are the differences between blister-formed and injection-molded lunch boxes? What are the differences in production costs?

The core differences between blister-formed and injection-molded lunch boxes lie in their molding principles, product performance, and cost structure. Blister forming has lower costs and is suitable for thin-walled, lightweight designs; injection molding offers higher strength and precision, making it suitable for complex structures and demanding applications.

II. Differences in Production Costs

* **Mold Costs:** Blister forming: Simple and inexpensive molds, ranging from approximately 500 RMB to tens of thousands of RMB for plaster/copper/aluminum molds, with a short development cycle.

* **Injection Molding:** Complex and expensive molds, typically costing tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of RMB, with a long lifespan but high initial investment.

* **Material Costs:** Blister forming: Can use thinner sheets, resulting in lower unit prices, but produces more scrap, requiring calculation based on thickness and layout.

* **Injection Molding:** High material utilization, more stable unit costs, suitable for large-scale, thinner production.

* **Equipment and Energy Consumption:** Blister forming: Low equipment investment, thermoforming energy consumption is approximately 8% of material costs, and production speed is fast.

Injection molding: Higher equipment and energy consumption, slightly higher labor and setup costs, and longer processing time per piece.

Overall Cost:

Small batches/short cycle times: Vacuum forming has lower total costs, with significant advantages in mold and start-up costs.

Large batches/long-term: Injection molding achieves economies of scale, reducing mold and unit costs, resulting in higher cost-effectiveness.
